Background of the Study
A triage system is a process used to prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition in order to allocate limited medical resources effectively. In emergency departments, the effectiveness of the triage system can significantly affect patient outcomes, including survival rates and recovery time. This study will assess the effect of the triage system on patient outcomes in Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
Statement of the Problem
Despite the widespread use of triage systems in emergency departments, there is limited evidence on how effective the system is in improving patient outcomes in Nigerian hospitals. This study will evaluate whether the triage system at LASUTH enhances patient care and contributes to better health outcomes.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on patient outcomes in the emergency department at LASUTH, where the triage system is actively used. Limitations include the availability of patient outcome data and potential variability in the application of the triage system across different shifts or personnel.
